$ 23.76

Availability: 100 in stock

Description

Vintage brown glass bottle labeled "Cochineal-Powder. 8 oz. The Coleman & Bell Co., Norwood, O., USA. C-154". Firmly corked. I have not opened the mostly-full bottle and I assume the contents match the label. I make no guarantee of the powder's efficacy as a dye and I recommend this item for display only.
The cochineal is a scale insect in the suborder Sternorrhyncha from which the natural dye carmine is derived.
This came from the recent estate of a professional printmaker and papermaker. Overall light wear and soil to bottle, with darkening to clear tape-covered label. Measures 6 7/8" tall (with cork) and 2 3/4" wide. Weighs 1 lb 1 oz.
From a smoke free home. Will ship well packed with 100% biodegradable packing peanuts and an appropriate shipping box.
Shipping on multiple items is combined whenever possible. Large and/or fragile items such as glassware and ceramics sometimes cannot be combined due to increased risk of damage during shipping. Shipping rates are based on final weight and dimensions of packed item(s).
Colors may differ slightly from reality due to differences in computer/mobile displays. Please bid with care and examine all photos and read entire description before bidding. Please pay within 7 days of auction's end. If payment is not made in a reasonable amount of time and no response is made to my messages, I will open an unpaid item case and you will be blocked from future bidding on my items.
