I am a long time PEZ collector since 1970 and am liquidating some of my extra items. When Flix came out I thought I would collect them as well and other candy dispensers but my collection got bigger than my house...and still is.  Here’s the story on these items and several more that I will be selling.  During the first 4 decades that PEZ was around the PEZ company sold their candy and dispensers utilizing a brokerage/distribution design.  The west coast sales for PEZ were managed by the J.R. Riffle & Sons Company. They would contact Woolworths, Rite Aide, Walgreens and other stores selling PEZ and candy from other companies.  After taking the orders they would contact PEZ Company with the order who in turn would ship the dispensers directly to the stores.
As one of the organizers of the first, second, and third West Coast PEZ Conventions [1995-97] I got to meet the Riffle family on several occasions. Doing so I had an opportunity to buy some of their latest items at the time including these and other Flix Prototypes. Design and development of dispensers is done in stages and involves mold making, licensing approvals, and other stages of development.
In this lot there two Flix "Large Wobbly" dispensers of a Marvel: The Hulk and Spiderman. Both are the larger wobbly stem in the Later stage of prototype development.  is made from injection mold plastic, is cleanly painted, but it has printed info that is glued to the back of the card, and the card.  Both have "Prototype/Sample" stamped on the back in red.  These dispensers were used as an early salesman piece to show to store's product buyers what was to be coming while the final dispensers were still in production. So you get this very rare opportunity to purchase a bit of dispenser production history.
