HART TO HART was a major success going into the 1980's with a blend of action, adventure, romance, and unforgettable chemistry between the two stars, ROBERT WAGNER and STEFANIE POWERS.  The series premiered in the fall of 1979 and quickly found it's rhythm and although not a comedy, it frequently had very funny moments and this episode is one of the best for all these reasons.
A first season episode, THE MAN WITH JADE EYES, was directed by the mastermind behind the series, Tom Mankiewicz, who wisely cherry picked the best scripts for episodes he directed.  Using his birth name of Edward Martino, this is actually Mart Crowley as the episode writer, and he was also producer of the series for most of it's run and widely credited with the rewrites on any scene with the banter and sexual innuendo that was a trademark of this series and it's lead actors.  As the Hart's are left with the dying words of a man stabbed before collapsing at their table whispering his final words, "protect the man with the jade eyes," the adventure is off to it's start.  Among the funniest moments is a frantic Jennifer running through the hall of a men's only club in distress and shouting her signature "Jonathan!" as she tries to track him down.  A truly great episode and Ms. Powers recalled having a lot of fun filming it as she was long time friends with Mankiewicz and they could not stop laughing at the antics in the script.
An original script with an emerald green cover, a nice nod to "jade," and a first draft dated November 2, 1979 and with 60 all light green pages.  It was hand signed by both Wagner and Powers and inscribed to "Paula," and looks like Ms. Powers did the basic sketch of a buddah as it is in the same ink as her signature.
Scripts of this show are hard to find, and to find a signed one of one of the best episodes, it doesn't get much better than this!....
NOTE…a signed script from this show sold for 0 at Julien’s in Beverly Hills on 7/17/22 and this is an even more desirable script!!
