    Description

    Camden, Atlantic & Ventnor Co.
    group of stockholder proxy documents
    1879-1925
This is a collection of 18 forms from stockholders of a New Jersey land company which authorize a lawyer to act as their voting proxy at upcoming meetings of the company's owners. All of them are printed forms which have been completed in handwriting, featuring a variety of individuals' names, and signatures. The collection also includes 3 small non-proxy-related paper items.
Four of the proxies are from 1879 when the company name was the Camden & Atlantic Land Co. These measure 3 x 9 inches in size, and appointed Samuel Richards as their substitute voter in the company's annual meeting.
The remaining pieces were all executed after the firm had changed its name to the Camden, Atlantic & Ventnor Land Co.
Seven are from 1902, and measure 6.5 x 8 inches, appointing Bartram Richards the proxy. (My guess is that Bartram Richards was a lawyer who took over his father's legal practice.)
There are also four from 1913; and three more which are dated 1925 with all of these also 6.5 x 8 inches in size, and naming Bartram Richards.
The three 1925 documents each have two cancelled 5-cent revenue ("Documentary") stamps affixed.
Finally, there are three small pieces from 1921, attached together at the upper left corner, which are related to Bartram Richards, with one of them being a voucher from the Camden, Atlantic & Ventnor Land Co.
