    Beautifully engraved antique stock certificate from the American Steamship Company dating back to the early 1900's. This document measures approximately 11 3/4" (w) by 9" (h).
    This certificate features a great vignette of the John J. Boland freighter.

    Historical Context
    In 1903, Mr. John J. Boland, Sr. and Mr. Adam E. Cornelius, Sr. form the partnership of Boland and Cornelius (the ship John J. Boland is depicted on this certificate). The is subsequently incorporated in 1907. The original fleet consisted of three bulk vessels.
    In 1967, the Oswego Shipping Company purchased the company, then in 1973, the company was again purchased, this time by transportation giant GATX.
