    Description

For sale is a metal 1952 WOODCLIFF LAKE METAL BATHING PRIVILEGE TAG. Woodcliff Lake is the name of a small town in New Jersey. This aluminum eight-sided tag with a metal pin is inscribed "Woodcliff Lake - 1952 - Bathing Privilege - 25". Tag has a functioning pin and measures about 1 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 inches.  Apparently swimming was only for rich people in 1950s New Jersey. A rare and unusual mid-century collectible.
Woodcliff Lake is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey which in 2010 had a population of 5,370 persons. The town started in 1894 and was originally named Woodcliff. In 1910, after a reservoir was created, the town was renamed to Woodcliff Lake. In 1950, the town started using Old Mill Pond as the town's swimming pool, a small, nearly silted-up mill pond near the headwaters of the Musquapsink Brook. The town improved the site by adding partial sand beach, a water slide, two diving boards, swimming lanes, and other water activities for kids.
