Created to exacting standards, using state-of-the-art gem-lab technology and minute attention to detail, this lab-created emerald has a chemical make-up identical to the finest Colombian emeralds. Its color is a more intense green than the natural stones can offer, and it performs at the bench just as a natural stone does. Unlike natural emeralds, however, this stone is heat-resistant and can be successfully cast in place and can be fired in place in silver PMC3 at the lowest temperature schedule. Emerald is the birthstone for May.
Also sometimes called an 'emerald cut,' the octagon cut has a rectangle shape and cut corners. Its facets are concentric planes that resemble stair-steps around the circumference of the stone, above and below the girdle.
